Two men remain in hospital following helicopter crash in Louth

Two men have been injured after a helicopter crash in County Louth yesterday evening. The men, a father and a son were flying over the Coley mountains, south of Carlingford when the crash happened.

The father, aged 71, was taken to Beaumont Hospital an Dublin by the an Irish Coast Guard rescue helicopter where he is said to be in a serious condition. His son, aged in his forties is being treated at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Dundalk gardaí, emergency services and Search & Rescue teams were alerted to the crash. Greenore Coast Guard, Louth County Fire Service, the National Ambulance Service and the Irish Coast Guard all attended.

Gardaí have confirmed that the helicopter crash landed in a garden at the foot of Top Hill. "One man was airlifted to Beaumont Hospital and is in a serious condition and the second man was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda”.

The Air Accident Investigation Unit have been informed about the incident and investigations are ongoing.
