Thirty-four firefighters dealing with major blaze in Offaly

A major blaze has caused substantial damage to a dairy plant in County Offaly this afternoon.

A fire at the Glenisk plant, at Newtown, Killeigh outside Tullamore has resulted in sever damage to the dairy facility.

Thirty-four firefighters from Offaly Fire & Rescue Service and Laois County Fire & Rescue Service are tackling the blaze.

Fire crews from Tullamore, Clara and Edenderry, Co. Offaly are being assisted by fire crews from Portarlington, Co. Laois.

Offaly County Coucnil has advised members of the public to avoid the area and for locals to remain indoors.

There are no reports of any injuries.
