Three people rescued from burning house

Three people who became trapped in a fire at a house in County Kildare overnight were rescued by neighbours while fire crews were en route to the scene. The fire, which occurred at around 4am today took place at a house on the Main Street in Clane.

Earlier attempts by two neighbours to rescue the occupants were at first, unsuccessful due to the thick smoke, however they did manage to gain entry.  Local gardaí who responded to the incident also assisted at the scene.

Emergency services were alerted after 4am. Units of Kildare Fire Service from stations in Naas and Maynooth were mobilised from the Eastern Regional Control Centre at Townsend Street in Dublin while and ambulance from the HSE National Ambulance Service was also dispatched from the NAS Emergency Operations Centre in Tallaght.

Three fire appliances and a RSFO attended the scene. Fire crews brought the blaze under control.

Ambulance paramedics assessed those who were rescued from the house. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.

Gardaí at Naas are investigating the incident, however, they are not treating it as suspicious.
