Three houses damaged by fire, one extensively

A house has been gutted and another two damaged after a fire broke out at a house at Mill Lane, Castlewellan in Co. Down.

The fire was discovered at around 5am today.

Seven units of Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service attended the incident, where up to thirty-five fire-fighters fought to bring the blaze under control.

One source said flames were shooting through he roof of the middle house when the fire brigade arrived. Both houses either side were also damaged following the fire.

There were no reports of any injuries and the fire is being treated as accidental.
