Offaly good news for Edendery as new ambualnce base confirmed

The HSE has confirmed that a new ambulance station for Edenderry, Co. Offaly has been approved and is hoped to be completed by the end of 2018.

Currently, ambulance staff are operating out of the ambulance base on the Arden Road in Tullamore as the former Edenderry ambulance base at Ofalia House in the town was closed due to safety concerns.

The proposed site for the new National Ambulance Service base in Edenderry is Senan Avenue and plans for the new building will comprise of an enclosed ambulance parking area, an administrative area and staff accommodation area.

The new ambulance base is expected to cost in the region of €1.7 million.

Meanwhile, pending the completion of the new home for Edenderry Ambulance Service, local representatives are calling on the HSE to provide suitable temporary accommodation in the North East Offaly town for ambulance staff to operate from a local base.
