In his prayers, Fr. John McManus said ‘The death of Colm recalls our own human condition. It recalls the brevity of our lives on earth , but for those who believe in your love, death is never the end, nor does it destroy the bonds that you forge in our lives.”
Supt Goretti Sheridan, Castlerea garda station thanked the community for its support following murder. Addressing the crowds, Supt Sheridan said “It means a lot to all of us here in Castlerea and over in the station in Ballaghadereen. We’re all devastated at the death of our friend and colleague Det. Garda Colm Horkan. We’re here today to join you as well in this vigil and we appreciate your support, it means a lot to us. Father John was with us last night when Colm passed, and he said a few prayers and that meant the world to us."
