In Mayo, a male garda suffered head and hand injuries and a female garda suffered minor injuries following an incident in Claremorris in the early hours of this morning. Both gardaí were taken to Castlebar General Hospital. The male garda was treated and discharged yesterday while his colleague did not require hospital treatment.
Gardaí have arrested three males, aged 18, 21 and 22 about the assaults and are being questioned at Castlebar and Westport garda stations.
In Dublin, two men both in their 20’s have been arrested following an assault on a female garda and male sergeant. A female garda sustained a fractured wrist and a male garda sergeant suffered facial injuries when they were assaulted at Aylward Greenm Finglas shortly before 2am.
The injured garda members were treated at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.
Two men who were arrested are due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning.
