Two fire-fighters from Athy, Co. Kildare have raised €650 in donations given by their colleagues from fire stations around county Kildare in an effort to help a Christmas toy appeal on Kildare’s local radio station KFM Radio in aid of St. Vincent de Paul.KFM’s annual Christmas Toy Appeal has received literally hundreds of toys from many of its listeners across the county over the past two weeks.
Driver/Mechanic (D/M) Joe Foley and Fire-fighter (FF) Michael O’ Connor contacted their colleagues in the five other fire stations in Kildare (Newbridge, Naas, Maynooth, Monasterevin & Leixlip) to help with their appeal. Once enough funds were raised, both D/M Foley and FF O’ Connor were only too delighted to revisit their child-hood and shop till they dropped for toys.

When finished, they called into the studios of Kildare’s KFM at the M7 Business Park at Newhall, Naas, where they presented the toys to Head of News Ciara Plunkett on behalf of the fire-fighters of Kildare Fire Service.
