Date Published : September 18th, 2016 Published By : adminA body has been removed from the water at Kennedy's Quay in Cork this evening following a multi-agency search and recovery operation after the car in which he was travelling entered the water.
The search began at around 5pm. Cork City Fire Brigade along with crews from the National Ambulance Service. Both the Coast Guard and the RNLI units from Crosshaven and local river rescue crews were all involved in the initial search.
The IRCG R117 from Waterford, the Naval Service and Garda Crime Scene Investigation unit were at the scene. The Naval Service arrived on the scene at around 7pm after being alerted by the Gardaí.
The car was recovered earlier however rescuers and divers continued to search for the single occupant whose body was recovered later this evening.
